Publicdrum is a 'technology cooperative' built by the people who use it.

Welcome!

Publicdrum is not a for profit company - we a 'technology cooperative' built by the people who use it. (read more )

Collaborative development

Linux did it - one man grew an idea by giving it away.

Ideas become real by combining the efforts of skilled people - and we believe that, given the chance, most people are willing to make things better.

We believe that interesting events enrich a community - and invite you to help us create the new tools appropriate for a web based world.

How we work:

Everything here was someone's idea - brought to life by someone who cares. (read more)

Publicdrum was created by the people using it.

We have always been a cooperative - a place where people can combine their skills and experiences working toward a common goal.

A service like Publicdrum has many components.

  • Technology - like the database and computer coding.
  • Communication - explaining the the ideas to visitors.
  • User interface - how to make the forms user friendly and minimize mistakes.
  • Interoperability - how can we integrate with the people who use event data.

There are lots of things we can do better - and your suggestions or active participation in any of these areas would be warmly welcomed!

You can make it better by using it!

As you use Publicdrum, please examine it with a critical eye - think about what changes YOU would like to make.

  • Are you a careful reader - help us kill the typo's!
  • Data your thing? Our API or database would benefit from your insight.
  • Like to write code? Create something with our json or xml data. Keep it, sell it - or even better, add it to our other open source tools.
  • Do you work for a newspaper or other outlet? What problems with event data distribution would you like solved?
  • Is programming your job or hobby? You could write or validate code - or help us with capacity planning and growth issues.
  • Does shared event data solve a problem for you? Mention the idea to other people in your community who's events you attend.
