You've entered a few events ... now what?

Since you are not logged in, the sample code will use someone else's data.

If you login, all the code will be configured to show your events - ready to cut and paste on your web site, email or blog.

1. You want to appear as many places as possible (more)

The decline of the newspapers and explosion of internet options makes reaching the public much more complicated.

  • There are hundreds of print and web outlets willing to display your event information.
  • Any one of them reaches only a small fraction of the public.

Clearly, getting into as many public outlets as possible is the best way to reach more people.

That's the problem: you probably don't know all the outlets who would welcome your information - and you certainly don't have time to fill out all their web forms. (hide)

2. Sharing your data simplifies everything (more)

The event data you enter into Publicdrum is available for use by anyone. More and more outlets use automated data - and Publicdrum helps them offer better calendar content and reduce costs.

More outlets displaying your data means more public visibility. (hide)

3. Recognize that Publicdrum is not a calendar (more)

People often find what we do confusing - particularly if they are accustomed to submitting their events to a single outlet (like a newspaper).

  • Unlike a single outlet, we don't display your event data. Instead we make it possible for it to appear on hundreds of existing outlets that do reach the public.
  • Our web form is more detailed because a radio station has different needs than a newspaper or automated web calendar. (hide)

4. You can use your shared data to save time and promote more efficiently (more)

  • Automate your time consuming, routine promotion tasks - including media submission and maintaining your web or social network pages.
  • Share a media list - reach outlets you previously didn't know about - or lacked the time to fill their web form.

Most people promoting events have a media list - newspapers, web calendars and advocates (like Visitor Bureaus) where they submit their event information in hopes of having it conveyed to the public.

Like our event data, our media list is also a shared resource. An outlet needs only be entered once - you can add your outlets - or discover new ones. Then, once a week we match upcoming event data to each outlet's submission requirements - and send them an email.

Save time - rather than retyping your event info into an email - either extract it from Publicdrum, or even better, simply include a link.

Cross promote with other groups in your area.

Your web site mostly reaches your existing audience - get more exposure by asking others to display your events in exchange for you displaying theirs. (see an example)

The events entered by each user forms their 'feed'. You can combine (aggregate) any number of feeds to create a 'combined calendar'.

You create a combined calendar by selecting the 'feeds' you wish to 'aggregate' - and then putting an automatic calendar on your web site.

First, select the feeds you want: menu pick "Services / Aggregate Feeds"

Then menu pick "Services / Data Wizard" to choose how to display your selections.
